Towards a new global model of intercultural communication

Abstract

Though hindrances continue existing nowadays for a better intercultural harmonization, significant advances are stated towards a greater cultural miscegenation, and a two-way communication. At the same time, the percentage of who considers the immigration as a source of social enrichment is increasing.  These are some of the conclusions that we can drawn from our intercultural communication analysis, developed through sociological and communicational approaches, with the aim of detect its evolution from official data, as Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas provides in his public opinion barometers, the EU Eurobarometer reports, European Committee against Racism and Intolerance, diverse websites, and both printed and digital publications with studies on the matter collecting remarkable advances, between them: Revista CIDOB d’ Áfers Internationals, Educa, Comunicaciones/Komunikazioak, etc. We also resort to international agreements (Amsterdam Treaty, Tampere European Council, Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union…). We corroborate our own considerations with authorized intercultural specialists arguments to underline the need to deepen in the changes leaded to overcome the barriers that complicates the transformations and the equity.
